What to Bring

Assuming that you’ve scheduled your mock checkride already, here’s what’s next:

Immediately after booking

    • Check your email for an initial appointment confirmation. This email will contain a Zoom link, a link to this “What to Bring” page, and a receipt for your payment.
    • If you did not submit your Airman Knowledge Test Report through the booking form, email a copy to scott@mockcheckride.com.
    • Within 24 hours of booking, you’ll receive a second email with a flight planning scenario (Sport, Private, Instrument, Commercial candidates) or lesson planning scenario (for CFI candidates). Follow the instructions in this document for planning and briefing.

Preparing for your mock checkride

    •  To get the most out of your appointment with us, we encourage you to try to assemble and bring all items on the FAA ACS Companion Guide’s Applicant Checklist (with the exception of the view-limiting device). Click on the image at the bottom of the page for a downloadable/printable version of this checklist.
    • We will verify your aeronautical experience and endorsements. We’ll also check that your personal documents are satisfactory. If you have access to your aircraft’s documents and maintenance records, we can ensure that your aircraft meets the requirements for the checkride. This will be done prior to starting the test. We‘re looking to catch any discrepancies in your paperwork and eligibility prior to your actual checkride appointment. We understand that you may not have access to all of these items during your mock checkride. For example, schools may limit access to aircraft documents and records, and you may not have yet completed your IACRA application.
    • If you’d like to email flight logs, weight & balance, aircraft records, etc. to share during the call, please send them to scott@mockcheckride.com. This is not required, but it’s helpful.
    • For CFI mock checkrides, you will want to bring and reference supplementary material (lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, PHAK, AFM, Instructor’s Handbook, etc.) not listed in the Applicant Checklist.

    • Ensure you have the Zoom client installed on the device you plan on using for the video call. We suggest using a laptop or desktop computer. You can download the Zoom client here. You’ll want to find a location for the appointment where you’ll be comfortable and insulated from distractions and noise.

Logging on

    • Log onto the Zoom video call at the appointment time. Please text or call 503.910.7458 if you will be unable to make your scheduled time or if you experience technical difficulties.
