Looking for a Flight Review? Insurance requiring an aircraft checkout? Want to polish up maneuvers for your commercial certificate? Need some experience flying in the mountains?
We can help! We offer in-person flight instruction services in your aircraft, flying out of Creswell Hobby Field (77S) near Eugene, Oregon. Creswell Hobby is a wonderful location for flight training. It is a quiet, non-towered field with a practice area just a few miles away. It’s also close to a Class D towered airport (Eugene Mahlon Sweet, KEUG), numerous other small airports (paved and grass), and the Cascade Range with several challenging landing strips.
Per FAR 61.56(a), a Flight Review consists of a minimum of 1 hour of flight training and 1 hour of ground training. It must include a review of operating and flight rules, and of procedures and maneuvers that demonstrate safe exercise of the privileges of the pilot certificate.
From there, a significant amount of latitude is available to both the instructor and client in determining what areas can be targeted for review and improvement. We’re happy to take Flight Reviews as an opportunity to teach a new skill or improve on existing ones. Maybe a trip to the Portland International (KPDX) Class C is in order to work on ATC communications. Or perhaps you’ve practiced “soft-field landings” but never flown into a grass strip. Let’s do it!
Note that the times prescribed in 61.56(a) are minimums. Pilots who haven’t done much flying or regulatory review in recent years will likely require more time to complete a Flight Review.
We are also happy to work with you to satisfy the Flight Review requirement via the FAA WINGS pilot proficiency program. You must complete a WINGS phase, which involves three knowledge credit activities (in-person or online courses), and three flight credit activities.
Our rate for flight (and/or ground) instruction is $75/hour. No surcharges for “higher level certificate instruction.” You can pay via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or cash in person.

Looking to add a flight to your Commercial or CFI Initial mock checkride for a comprehensive (some might say exhaustive!) experience? If you’re able to come to Creswell Hobby Field (77S), we can conduct your mock checkride in person, and after the ground portion and a snack break, we’ll go fly!
Expect the flight profile to be similiar to that which you will be asked to conduct on your actual checkride. The flight, like the ground, will cover all required ACS Tasks and Elements, and several optional items as well. Most mock checkride flight portions will take 1.5-1.7 hours Hobbs time. After the flight, we’ll debrief what went well and what needed improvement, and (if appropriate) formulate a plan to improve prior to your checkride date.
The rate for the mock checkride flight add-on is $100 (total), in addition to our standard mock checkride rates. Plan on an additional 2 hours of clock time for this appointment.
For mock checkride flight add-ons, please email scott@mockcheckride.com or call 503.910.7458.
